Ability Centre customer Casey Dunn. who has left sided weakness cerebral palsy took up Judo in 2014 for fun and to help with her posture and balance. It soon became clear that her determination and strength was going to make her successful in the sport.

“In 2014, I was looking for a challenge and my Mum encourage me to consider Judo as it’s something she had competed in. I really found it challenging as I had to get my limbs to do things they had never done before, but with practice I found out they could.

I’m the only special needs judoist in Western Australia and Judo WA had to understand the different rules so that I could compete in competitions here. Since that first year, I have won more than 30 gold medals.

In June, I am heading to my fourth National Championships and I’m hoping to win again. I have just achieved my blue belt, which makes me feel confident in the lead up to nationals,” Casey said.
