The announcement of the Royal Commission on 5 April 2019 into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability is welcomed by Ability Centre.
Ability Centre Chief Executive Officer, Jacquie Thomson said the organisation is committed to supporting people of all abilities to thrive in their community and no form of abuse, exploitation or discrimination is acceptable.
“We will continue to be open and transparent during the enquiry process and will cooperate fully with the Royal Commission. We respect our customers’ right to raise any concerns with the Royal Commission.”
This was echoed in a statement from the Chair of Ability Centre, Mr Justin Scanlan “We hope that this inquiry into the treatment of people with disabilities will result in positive cultural change across our Australian community and will lead to improved outcomes for people living with disability, their families and carers.”
